Privacy Policy

Effective Date: November 8, 2025

Overview

RankMaven is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle data in our tier list creation tool.

Data Collection and Storage

What We Collect

RankMaven operates on a local-first architecture. This means:

  • No user accounts or authentication - We do not collect personal information like names, emails, or passwords
  • No server-side storage - Your tier lists are never stored on our servers
  • No tracking cookies - We do not use cookies to track your behavior across the web

Local Browser Storage

RankMaven uses browser-based storage technologies:

IndexedDB

  • Stores your tier list history (last 100 tier lists)
  • Stores auto-saved drafts of your work-in-progress
  • Stores your preferences (default colors, tier count)
  • Retention: Data persists until you clear your browser data or delete items manually
  • Control: You can clear all history at any time through the History page

Shareable Tier Lists

When you click "Share" to generate a shareable URL:

  • What is shared: Only the tier list configuration (tier names, colors, item positions, images)
  • What is NOT shared: No personal information, no usage data, no analytics
  • Where it's stored: The data is encoded in the URL itself (URL hash/fragment)

Third-Party Services

Ahrefs Web Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand website traffic. This is a privacy-focused service that does not track individual users or sell data.

Image Handling

When you upload custom images:

  • Client-side only: All image processing happens in your browser
  • No server upload: Images are never sent to our servers
  • Storage: Images are stored in your browser's IndexedDB

Summary

RankMaven stores all your tier lists locally in your browser using IndexedDB. We never upload your tier lists to our servers. When you share a tier list, only the tier list data is encoded in the URL. We use privacy-focused Ahrefs analytics to understand website traffic but do not track individual users.
